Labor Incidents Tracking Database in Cambodia
Labor Incidents Tracking Database in Cambodia
Project Overview
In collaboration with Solidarity Center Cambodia, Glean Asia developed a cutting-edge Labor Incidents Tracking Database (LITD) designed to streamline the documentation, reporting, and management of labor-related incidents. This project aimed to provide Solidarity Center with an intuitive, scalable solution that facilitates comprehensive tracking and reporting on labor issues, such as violations of labor rights, workplace exploitation, and worker grievances across Cambodia. Our goal was to create a system that allowed seamless data capture and analysis, ensuring effective advocacy and legal intervention.
Challenge
Solidarity Center Cambodia faced challenges in tracking and documenting labor incidents in an organized and efficient way. The lack of a centralized platform made it difficult for them to store and manage sensitive data across various teams and locations, which hindered their ability to generate actionable insights and reports. Furthermore, collaboration between internal teams and external stakeholders was inefficient due to the fragmented nature of their data storage and communication tools.
Solution
Glean Asia addressed these challenges by implementing the LITD system, utilizing the Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP) and our proprietary DataGood product as the backbone for the system. The solution was tailored to Solidarity Center’s specific needs, providing robust user management, collaboration tools, and a data structure that allowed for secure storage, sharing, and analysis of labor incidents.
Architecture & Design: We began by designing a user-centric system that allows different teams within Solidarity Center to access and manage data based on their roles. The system was built using Liferay’s platform, ensuring secure data management and smooth user authentication via Single Sign-On (SSO).
Data Management: The LITD system allowed Solidarity Center to create customizable tables for incident data, enabling easy input, tracking, and reporting of various types of labor incidents. Through intuitive dashboards, users could visualize key data points in real-time, providing insights into incident trends and case outcomes.
Collaborative Tools: We integrated the DataGood dashboard to facilitate better collaboration among teams. Team members could update incidents, assign roles, and communicate within the platform. This ensured that incidents were handled by the right personnel and that sensitive case information was accessible only to authorized users.
Notifications and Updates: The system included a powerful notification feature that allowed administrators to send timely updates to team members whenever an incident was created or updated. This feature ensured that incidents were addressed promptly and that no case was left unresolved for long periods.
Technical Approach
Glean Asia employed an agile development methodology for this project, splitting the work into several key stages: inception, discovery, construction, and activation. We worked closely with Solidarity Center to define user personas, create system architecture, and conduct user acceptance testing (UAT). Each phase allowed us to incorporate feedback and iterate on the design, ensuring a product that met Solidarity Center’s evolving needs.
Impact and Results
The LITD system significantly improved Solidarity Center’s ability to document and manage labor incidents. The centralized platform enhanced team collaboration and provided a reliable source of data for reporting and advocacy efforts. With real-time dashboards and streamlined workflows, the system empowered Solidarity Center to take swift action on labor rights violations, improving both internal processes and their impact on the ground.
Key Achievements:
- Enhanced Reporting Capabilities: The system allowed for customized reports, helping Solidarity Center track trends and present data to stakeholders.
- Improved Data Security: Using Liferay’s robust security protocols, we ensured the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive labor incident data.
